Multi-faceted upgrade project of the busy Rush & Lusk Station, which remained fully operational for the duration

Key Features

- Construction of major car park extension to increase parking spaces from 50 to 300. This included earthworks, new public lighting, fencing, drainage and phased delivery to facilitate customers

- Complete reconstruction of both station platforms including all services contained within – carried out over 3 months working exclusively at night

- Major upgrade to existing station building, which is a protected structure. JCL had to provide temporary ticket office facilities for the station for a period of 3 months while the works were carried – new layout provides for full accessibility, increased security and upgrade to the internal finishes

- Installation of new granite clad lift shafts with bases requiring substantial temporary works adjacent to the railway line

- Architectural footbridge with curved steel beams, aluminium decking and stainless steel balustrade

- Major MEICA element with new signalling, lighting and connection with Irish Rail network

- Demolition of existing footbridge over the live railway during a night time possession

- The station remained fully operational for the complete duration of the project
